Why the name?
When we were first trying to come up with a name for this team, we penciled countless ideas here and there, some of which were too serious, others just plain crazy.
Then it hit us.
Everything starts with a pencil, doesn’t it? Kids learn to write and draw with a pencil. Artists make rough sketches, writers doodle. It is the artist’s and the writer’s most basic tool! When combined with creative imagination, penciled ideas can turn into something great and wonderful. And we figured, hey, that’s how we do our work!
Yes, we do admit that technology rules in this world we work in, but come on, basic tools like a pencil coupled with pure talent can prove to be priceless. After all, everything starts here.
Not to mention, there are just too many things to love about pencils.
For one, pencils don’t let you down. They are as reliable as reliable can get. They don’t crash or say weird things when you hit the wrong button. They are simple, easy-going, and very straightforward.
Most of all, pencils are all about sheer talent and imagination. They don’t have shift F7 to provide you with superfluous words or complicated tools that give you automatic dazzling effects. It’s really the inherent creativity that’s doing the real work. And because of this, there is just so much more room for growth!
Ultimately, we’re like pencils. Really, you’d love us. But we’re the modern kind so you don’t have to worry about trusting your business to a bunch of web dummies! We know our way around, we just don’t let technology overshadow natural talent.
